We recently decided to move to the lovely town of Llantwit Major in order to be near our son and his young family. Walter and Cen of WD Real Estate have made our move possible. This small development in the centre of Llantwit utilises disused land and the homes are near to shops,services,and travel hubs. We met Walter and Cen before any bricks were laid and immediately liked them. They are genuine and offered a bespoke build based on the plans passed. We were convinced that these were people we could buy a proper home from and that we could trust.
We were not disappointed.
Our home has been traditionally built by local craftsmen all of whom have been open and friendly and extremely honest. In all our dealings with Walter he has proved to be the perfect gentleman and a thoroughly efficient business man and administrator. Likewise Cen (the manager on the ground) is always accessible living locally to the site. My wife and I have no hesitation in recommending any house or development which Walter and Cen are marketing. We now own a beautiful home in the middle of this superb town. We are delighted.

Our lovely flat, which we sadly had to say goodbye to due to finding work in East London, was indeed a home for us. Simply put, renting from Walter at WD Real Estate was a joy. Our flat was our haven in London; Walter had it smartly appointed and well maintained when we moved in, and we were able to further furnish to our liking. The leasing process was a breeze: Walter showed us the property in person, he was knowledgeable about the neighbourhood, and clearly explained the application process (and the notable lack of fees, which is hugely appreciated in London). Frankly, having a landlord that's easy to work with is as important to me as having a nice flat, and here we were able to tick both boxes.
That continued throughout our lease - any time an issue with the flat arose, it was assessed and rectified nearly immediately. Walter was also extremely flexible when we wanted to make small changes or improvements - Walter was enthusiastic about us getting smart meters installed through our utility providers, and helped out with his detailed knowledge of the flat to ensure the installation went smoothly. All in all, there's no question that if we're ever house hunting in the UK again, Walter and WD Real Estate will be our first stop.

We engaged Walter at WD Real Estate last year with an outline brief when we were looking to acquire our first larger development project, having previously carried out various smaller flats refurbishments. At the outset we had a broad brief (outer London, refurbishment/conversion project, budget and target return). We were keen to acquire a project that had minimal initial planning risk which also incorporated an upside scenario.
Walter helped us identify several target areas and to narrow our brief. When viewing the carefully selected properties together, Walter provided invaluable advice and guidance throughout. After refining our specific requirements, he then helped us bid for and acquire two flats in one transaction at significantly below the asking price. He helped negotiate a delayed completion which allowed us to prepare our first two planning applications in advance. This shortened the timescales of the development and increased the return.
WD Real Estate then assisted with budgeting for the construction works and was at hand in case we needed further advice or an introduction to any of his industry connections. Walter also helped us achieve enhanced planning by creating a third flat. Although we carried out the development management role ourselves, Walter has kept in close touch throughout the project. Walter is personable and continually provides excellent advice. We very much look forward to working together on future projects and would happily recommend his services.

Last year, when we were considering buying an investment property in London, we were referred to Walter by a friend who thought he might be able to assist us; he did this and so much more! Prior to engaging WD Real Estate, we had a broad brief (London suburbs, refurbishment/renovation project, extend and split potential, min. rental return target, extra potential for capital appreciation due to transport or other structural change in future) and an approximate budget, but little idea as to where to start looking, nor exactly what would be feasible.
Walter provided invaluable advice and assistance to us throughout our engagement, and ensured we stayed on track and avoided several mistakes. He identified several target areas that fit our brief, and selected a series of potential properties for us to view – having been to visit them in person first. His extensive experience and knowledge, excellent understanding of the market, and his ability to identify existing building issues, see potential for improvements and accurately cost these immediately, very quickly gave us a much deeper understanding of each property. This then helped us refine our specific requirements, and finally identify, bid for and successfully buy a house at well below asking price. WD Real Estate then assisted us with specifying required building works (and avoiding unnecessary works/cost), comparative pricing, and the process of getting the property ready for rental – meaning we were able to start renovation works the day after completion. Walter also guided us in the process of appointing agents, finding tenants and successfully letting the property some 5 weeks after purchase. In particular, Walter’s understanding of the complex and ever-changing regulatory framework helped us navigate various pitfalls and avoid any costly mistakes! His attention to detail and sound advice is beyond compare.
Walter has a plethora of highly useful industry connections – estate agents, solicitors, surveyors, mortgage brokers, development finance banks, architects, builders, and materials suppliers – and ensures these are made available to assist with any aspect of a project as necessary.
This was our first project together with Walter and WD Real Estate, but it certainly will not be our last. Walter was a delight to work with and surpassed all expectations in every aspect of the project, from beginning to the end, and then beyond the end of the project.

WD Real Estate were very thorough and professional spending long days with us visiting nearly 30 potential flats.
